About Kidepo Valley National Park

Kidepo Valley National Park lies in the rugged, semi arid and virgin valleys along Uganda’s border with Kenya and Sudan. It is approximately 700km away from Kampala city. It was gazetted in 1962 as a national park.

It hosts the big game, over 77 mammal species and 475 bird species. Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park but but its absolute serenity and virgin natural appearance is magnificent and worth the time and distance. Its one of Africa’s most sought after wilderness destinations.

From Apoka, in the heart of the park, a savannah landscape extends far beyond the gazetted area, towards horizons outlined by distant mountain ranges. The park has seasonal oases around Narus Valley where wildlife congregate to drink water making it the park’s prime game viewing location.
